John Leyland
Trustee
I was born and schooled in St Helens in Merseyside. After university I first worked for the Department of Employment before moving to the Home Office's computing division in Liverpool. This was privatised in 1994 and I spent the remainder of my working life in IT within the private sector.
My Story
After retiring I continued my role as chair of a local tennis club, volunteered in a community cinema and relaxed cycling, playing tennis, hill walking and painting and drawing.
My retirement was disrupted after I bought a house in Maryport which required much work.
It was whilst attending to this that I became involved in the Settlement, becoming a trustee and taking over the running of life drawing sessions which are held regularly within the centre
